Acicarb-Forte are high-strength systemic alkalizing agents commonly used to neutralize excess acid in the body. At this 1000 mg (1 gram) dose, they are typically used under medical supervision for more serious or chronic conditions involving acid-base imbalances.
Uses
1.Used in conditions like chronic kidney disease, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), or shock, where the body produces too much acid or can’t eliminate it effectively.
2.Helps raise urinary pH to prevent or treat uric acid kidney stones or support the excretion of certain drugs or toxins.
3.Temporarily shifts potassium into cells and corrects acidosis, used in emergency settings alongside other treatments.
4.Occasionally used as an antacid in severe or resistant cases of dyspepsia, though lower doses are preferred for this.
5.Used in some poisonings (e.g., tricyclic antidepressant overdose) to alkalinize blood and urine to reduce drug toxicity.
Dosage and Administration
1.Standard Adult Dose:325 mg to 2 grams, 1–4 times daily, based on the condition being treated.
2.Sodium Content: Each 1000 mg tablet contains about 274 mg of sodium, which is significant—caution is needed in patients with salt-sensitive conditions.
