Product Description

Iron Sucrose Injection USP is a sterile, colloidal solution of ferric hydroxide in complex with sucrose, formulated for intravenous administration. It is primarily used to treat iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including those undergoing hemodialysis.

Indications

Iron Sucrose Injection USP is indicated for:
1.Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA): In adult and pediatric patients aged 2 years and older with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
2.Dialysis-Dependent CKD: Patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
3.Non-Dialysis Dependent CKD: Patients not on dialysis but requiring iron supplementation.

Dosage and Administration

1.Route of Administration: Intravenous (IV) use only.
2.Dilution: When administered by IV infusion, dilute with 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection to a concentration of 0.5 to 2.0 mg of elemental iron per mL.

Administration Rate:
1.IV Injection: Administer at a rate of 1 mL (20 mg iron) per minute.
20IV Infusion: Dilute as per guidelines and administer over a period determined by the healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects

These are typically mild and may resolve as your body adjusts:
1.Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
2.Headache or dizziness
